Physical Edge Healthcare Thirroul - Physiotherapy, Sports Injury, Rehabilitation & Nutrition Clinic was born to pursue a passion for empowering people to lead fully active, functional, and pain-free lives.
If you are currently expecting, or have given birth in the last 12 months, take a look at some of the projects she is running this year.
Strategic timing of exercise in the management of Gestational Diabetes:
Do you have Gestational Diabetes? It is such a common condition seen during pregnancy (up to 20% of pregnancies), yet so little is known about it! This study looks at placing monitors on women at multiple times during their third trimester to explore the influence of exercise on your blood glucose concentrations.
COVID-19 social distancing protocol and the postpartum mum:
COVID-19 social distancing has influenced us all in some way over 2020. There is currently a survey being distributed to women who have given birth in the last 12 months looking at how exactly being isolated has impacted their well-being so that we know how to better support them! The link to the survey is right here:

Beyond the Bump: Creating healthier families:
Once discharged from the hospital after delivering your baby, many women find they aren’t provided adequate support in this new phase of their lives. Beyond the Bump is a UOW run community engagement program that aims to providing women of the Illawarra with free education from experts in the field, as well as providing women with a safe environment to ask questions and build relationships with each other. This program is running from October 2020.
